Dawayne M. Champion, 54, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Friday, October 3, 2025, after a fight with cancer. Per Dawayne's request and wishes there will be no formal services. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Dawayne was born on January 12, 1971, in Niles, Michigan, the son of Dawayne and Judy (Burkholder) Champion. He attended Southwest Tech, Fennimore, where he got his diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. With that he was always tinkering and working on anything electrical. He played guitar and bass and was in the band Uphoria years ago.

Dawayne is survived by his three children, Kaleb (Angelica) Champion, Ian Champion, and Skyla (Jon) Morehead; grandchildren, Maya, Benjamin, Phoenix, Kate, Michael and Molly; his mother, Judy (Irven) Leinen; father, Dawayne Champion; sisters, Kayla (Jason) Fenlon and Starla Champion.
