Obituary of Dawn Michelle Cox
Dawn Michelle Cox, 57, passed away on May 13, 2024, in North Port, FL. She was born on June 5, 1966, in Canton, Ohio, to Terry and Judith (Whitmer) Hickman.
Dawn graduated from GlenOak High School in Canton, Ohio. In pursuit of becoming a Registered Nurse, Dawn attended Stark State College and graduated from Edison State College with her bachelor's degree.
Dawn's nursing career consisted of caring for patients in the Intensive Care Unit. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare recognized Dawn as the 2020 top registered nurse. Dawn loved her career and retired in 2022.
Dawn enjoyed the outdoors, camping in her RV, boating with friends, or lying by her tranquil pool. She loved spending time with family and friends. She delighted in crafting, decorating, and baking. She surrounded herself with lush gardens, planted fruits and vegetables, and fragrant flowers.
Dawn will be remembered as a beautiful daughter, loving wife, mother, and generous grandmother. She will be known as a fierce yet gentle nurse. Dawn was a blessing to all who knew her.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Allan Cox; her mother, Judith Marshall, and Richard Marshall; her grandfather, Earl Hickman; her brother, Stephen Hickman, and wife, Tami Hickman; her son, Brentt Nichols; her daughter-in-law, Evan Nichols; children from the marriage, Justin Cox and Kimber Jimenez, and grandchildren Selah Nichols, Eliana Jimenez, and Mariano Jimenez III.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 2 PM to 4 PM, with a Celebration of Life to follow from 4 PM to 5 PM at Farley Funeral Home, 265 South Nokomis Avenue, Venice, FL 34285.
