Dawn E. Johnson, of Auburn NH passed away January 1, 2025, just shy of her 90th birthday. The daughter of Girard and Leah Hibbard, Dawn was born in Stoneham, MA on March 23, 1935, and raised in Wakefield, MA. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1953. Dawn soon met her husband Frank Johnson Jr. at Lawson Tool and Die in Malden. Dawn and Frank were married at the First Lutheran Church in Malden on September 10, 1955 and shared 50 years of happiness together until Frank's death in 2005. She was the loving mother of Glenn, Priscilla, Elaine, Ken and Audrey as well as a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. During her free time Dawn enjoyed sewing, painting, arts and crafts, and she also faithfully watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night. Dawn loved to read cookbooks, try new recipes, especially baking cookies with and for her grandchildren at Christmas time. Dawn was employed at the Stuart's Department Store in Malden for 15 years, and at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 14 years, before retiring in 1999.
Dawn is survived by her children Audrey Trickett and Chris of Auburn, NH, Elaine Fitzpatrick and James of Marshfield, Ken Johnson of Florida, and Priscilla Cruikshank of Malden. Dawn is also survived by her siblings June Reynolds of Beverly and Jane Rocca of Connecticut, 16 grandchildren: Leah, Ben and Jessica Trickett, Anne and Erin Fitzpatrick, Jeremy, Justin, Jared and Nadya Johnson, Colin, Trevor, John and Kimberly Cruikshank, Andrew, Robert Johnson and Kristen Flanagan, and 6 great-grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends, especially her best friend Breda Ryan of Melrose. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Johnson Jr., her son Glenn Johnson and his wife Marsha, her son-in-law John Cruikshank, and her siblings John Hibbard and Richard Hibbard.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hanover Hill Health Care Center for their compassionate care of our mom, as well as the Hospice Department of the Manchester Visiting Nurses.
