TORRINGTON- It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Dawn M. (Hoyt) Schuster, age 65, of Torrington, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved widow of William “Bill” Schuster.
Dawn was born on July 27, 1960, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the daughter of Marilyn F. (Gilbert) Bernard and the late Albert Hoyt. Throughout her life, Dawn embraced her passions and poured her heart into everything she did.She was raised in the Waterbury and Watertown area, Dawn dedicated herself to her craft as a hairdresser, owning and operating Savior Hair in Naugatuck for many years. Her talent and caring nature made her a cherished figure in the community. On October 14, 2000, Dawn married her beloved husband, Bill and together they created a home with great warmth in Terryville. Dawn had a deep love for nature, often enjoyed camping at her father’s cabin in Maine or frequenting local beaches. She delighted in long drives that led to unexpected adventures and treasured the simple joys of decorating and cooking—especially her favorite seafood dishes. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending precious time with her family, who were the center of her world.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her sons; Christopher Hoyt and his wife Stacie of Harwinton, Bailey Schuster and his significant other Mariah Morin of Torrington, her grandson, Jacob Hoyt and her siblings; Robert Hoyt and his wife, Lya of Terryville, Dennis Bernard and his wife, Cheri of Prospect, Kenneth Bernard of Thomaston and Craig Bernard and his wife, Diana of Goshen. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill Schuster.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with Dawn’s family on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family. In this time of reflection, the family welcomes all who knew and loved Dawn to share messages of condolence and comfort, as well as cherished memories.
