Dawn Desiree Scott (July 27, 1960 – July 15, 2025), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2025, just days before her 65th birthday.
Born on July 27, 1960, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dawn was the daughter of Matt and Olivia Matthews (preceded in death). Alongside her siblings, Sherry and Russell Matthews, Dawn spent her early years in various parts of the country, though New Mexico always remained home in her heart.
Later in life, Dawn moved to Roswell, NM, where she built a life centered around family and community. She devoted many years to the Roswell Independent School District, most recently serving as a Library Assistant at Goddard High School. She had a special place in her heart for the students, always supporting their successes and capturing their moments, whether through posters, yearbook pages, or photographs that were often used in the local newspaper. Her love for high school sports and dedication to the school community left a lasting impression on countless lives.
Dawn was deeply proud of her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to Jeff Scott, a nurturing mother to her three sons - Peter Ambs, James Scott, and Jeffrey Scott - and a proud grandmother to Spencer, Allie, Beto, and Alina. She also had a deep and lasting affection for her dogs, who were constant companions and a source of joy throughout her life.
Dawn’s warmth, creativity, and generosity touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she impacted and the love she so freely gave.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial service will be held at LaGrone Funeral Home Friday, July 25th at 11:00 am. All the friends and family of Dawn are welcome to attend.
