Dawnett was born to Donald W. and Reva D. Boyer on a blustery winter day in Jackson, Wyoming. She and her sister, Tammy, spent their childhood in many places throughout the world including Germany, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. She made many friends along the way. She was a tomboy with her dad growing up and went hunting and fishing with him. She was very close with her mother her whole life. She graduated in Duluth, Minnesota in 1981 where she was a Pom Pom girl and played clarinet in band.
On 09/10/1988 Dawnett married Steven Cook and they were married for 24 years. Together they had a successful business and she helped many others with bookkeeping and accounting during this time as well. In January 1991 Dawnett and Steve welcomed their only child, Carissa. Dawnett was a wonderful mother and was very involved in Carissa's early school years. Dawnett and Carissa were best friends. As a family, they enjoyed traveling and made many memories together.
Dawnett became a grandmother first to Taizley in January 2016 and then Sawyer in November 2019. She referred to her grandchildren as her whole world and loved to spend time with them any chance she could. They absolutely loved playing "Grammy Monster" and Sawyer called her his "favorite Grammy". She had a very special bond with Taizley as well, as Carissa and Taizley lived with her for about a year after Taizley was born.
Dawnett worked at the bank for a while as well as the clinic where she was a CNA and a phlebotomist. She worked for the Rusty Nail for about 14 years helping with interior design. She had an eye for decorating and was always a perfectionist. Everyone who ever worked with Dawnett built a strong friendship with her.
Dawnett was a strong woman. She was very giving and thoughtful, referred to by family as the "Yes Lady". She had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. She never knew a stranger and was adored by all who met her. She was involved in the Jackson Does and other community groups. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She loved her animals and rescued many strays over the years. Dawnett was a very talented artist and made many beautiful creations with different mediums. She loved the beach, snorkeling in the ocean and was over the moon about getting the experience to feed flamingos with her daughter and granddaughter.
Dawnett is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Etta and Alvin Johnston, paternal grandmother Elizabeth Fischer, father Donald W Boyer. She is survived by mother Reva D Boyer, sister Tammy Briggs (Ron), daughter Carissa Cook and grandchildren Taizley Cook and Sawyer Cook.
