Dawone Cortez Howard, born on October 19, 2001, tragically passed away on August 14, 2024, in Owensboro, KY. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, DeMarion Black; grandmother, Fonda Howard Fant; and great-grandmother, Dorthy Hutchinson.
Dawone leaves behind a loving network of family and friends who will cherish his memory forever. Dawone is survived by his mother, Lethie Curtis; his father, Richard Howard, grandmother, Cheryal Allen; and grandfather, Tim Allen. He also leaves behind his siblings, Tala James, Javaughn James, De'Haven Kessler, William Kessler, and De'Aran Kessler; nephew, LaVonte James; nieces, Czarah Willinger, Cadence Curtis, and Lily Curtis; aunts, Katrina Howard and Jamie Curtis; uncles, Jai Howard and Chad Curtis; his fiancee, Noelle Reynolds; and his loyal dog, Motley. Dawone was a cherished member of his family and will be deeply missed by all.
During his time in high school, Dawone excelled in both football and karate. He was passionate about these sports and dedicated countless hours to honing his skills. Dawone's commitment and determination were evident in his performances on the field and in the dojo.
In addition to his athletic pursuits, Dawone was a past volunteer firefighter at the Thruston Philpot Fire Department as well as a former Jailer at the Daviess County Detention Center in pursuit of becoming a Kentucky State Police Officer. He selflessly served his community, demonstrating bravery and compassion in the face of danger. His contributions as a firefighter and jailer were greatly appreciated by all who knew him.
Dawone had a deep love for all things country. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with friends, and embracing the simple pleasures of life. Dawone had a particular fondness for guns, his truck, and Carhartt clothing. These interests reflected his rugged and adventurous spirit.
Dawone's selflessness extended even beyond his volunteer firefighting duties. He was the proud recipient of the Donor Medal of Honor, a testament to his generosity and willingness to help others. Dawone's decision to become an organ donor has undoubtedly saved lives and left a lasting impact on those who received his precious gift.
Dawone Cortez Howard will be remembered as a loving son, grandson, brother, fiance, nephew and friend. His vibrant personality, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his passions will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Private family service will follow.

When his mom was pregnant with him when we was in high school. I remember bc I to was pregnant with my daughter Katelynn Haynes. I was heartbroken to say the least when I found out this was you.. rest easy buddy you will be missed
