Dean and my brother Tom Stock met in the army at ft Sam Houston, Tx and later played in a band together in the Dothan area. After a year or two my brother Tom left the band. Tom always talked about Ox, Deans nickname. I saw ARS twice in Tallahassee but never got to meet Dean but I loved his be music to this day.

Dean & I grew up in the same neck of the woods in Covington Co, AL and were about the same age but somehow never crossed paths till I attended a Candymen’s concert in the late 60s. I was more than impressed. Dean was an uncompromising musician but a great guy no one was kinder or more gracious than Dean.
We became friendly acquaintances I guess you could say. Did some work together at Studio One. Jammed a little on occasion.
It seems hard to believe he is gone. He was a big inspiration & great musician. It will not be the same just knowing he is no longer out there. God Speed, Dean.

No doubt heaven has a mighty fine band. Sorry to the family for your loss. Mr. Daughtry and his band had a big impact on my life. The inspiration pushed me to pursue music. I will always be thankful for the great music. It breaks my heart to watch all the greats leave. Rest in peace but not forgotten.

I first met Dean back in 1972-3. We all lived in the same apartments together. It was a small complex and so you got to know each other really well, really quickly. Back then no one locked their patio doors, so we all just came and went at all hours of day or night. We spent many nights at Studio One or all piled into a car going to their shows. He was, without a doubt, one of the kindest and gentlest people I have ever known. We laughed a lot, talked a lot, raised hell a whole lot. He was a truly gifted musician and an even better human being. I still keep a picture of us taken one late night so long ago, and I always smile. Heartfelt condolences to his family. We were all blessed. Kim B.

Will always remember Grad Night 1978 in Disney World with my two best friends David & Linda Punzak. We watched ARS play that magical night and 45 years later we are still the best of friends!

So Into You is truly one of my favorite songs. They just don’t make songs nor artists like this anymore. Mr. Daughtry was a phenomenal musician. I listen to some of the air checks from some of the local Atlanta stations. They would often mention of Atlanta Rhythm Section playing softball games. I wish I could’ve been there. Rest Easy Sir! Thank you for being a part to the soundtrack of my life.
