Dean Dooley, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Saint Louis University Hospital.
Born on June 30, 1938, in Greenup, IL, Dean was the son of Clyde and Mary McElravy Dooley. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Comer on September 21, 1956, in Peoria. Ruth Ann preceded him in death on January 13, 2019.
Dean retired from UPS after 20 years of dedicated service. His passions included horse racing, training racehorses, playing cards, and golfing with his friends. He cherished spending time with his family and loved ones.
Dean is survived by two sons and their spouses: Dane and Stephany Dooley of Plainview, IL, and Mark and Traci Dooley of Bradenton, FL; one daughter and her spouse: Denise and Rob Miller of Bethalto, IL; six grandchildren and their spouses: Gabe and Rachel Swift, Josh and Melody Swift, Zach and Lauren Swift, Nathan Dooley, Erin Dooley, and Jennifer and Mike Whiteaker; and ten great-grandchildren: Jack, Nora, Sullivan, Rylynn, James, Steven, Ella, Isaac, Iris, and Silas. He is also survived by his brother, Rick Dooley.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann, his parents, and a brother, Philip Dooley.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
