Dean Beryl McCrary was a Saturday's child. Born on Saturday August 22, 1953, in
Parkston, South Dakota to Helen (Hansen) McCrary and Ellsworth B McCrary. According to the 19th century nursery rhyme, those born on Saturday worked hard for a living. They are industrious, determined and focused. Saturday born individuals are often considered strong willed, independent and go-getters. Dean embodied all of those traits as well as being a very loving and compassionate husband, father, Papa, son, brother and friend. Dean loved and served the Lord, he was welcomed home to his life in Heaven on Saturday, February 7th, 2026.
Dean grew up in Ethan, South Dakota and graduated from Ethan High School in 1971. Dean attended Huron College for two years, while touring with various bands, including the Lowell and Dean Show, which enjoyed quite the following.
On Saturday, November 27, 1976, Dean married Deborah Wessel at the Methodist Church in Huron, South Dakota. Being traditionalists, Dean and Deborah made it a priority that when they started a family, she would be a stay-at-home mother. Dean loved and respected his mother and he wanted to emulate the life he grew up with.
Dean began his career in retail for Tandy Corporation, first as a sales associate at Radio Shack. He exceeded expectations, adhering to moral standards, strong work ethic and commitment to success, He quickly climbed the ladder and was promoted to store manager, district manager and regional manager winning several national awards. After 12 years at Radio Shack, he began a new career in 1988 in technology services and consulting. Dean opened a branch office in Dallas, Tx for Comprehensive Computer Consulting. Finally opening his own consulting firm, Thinkfind Technology Services, in 2011 with his long-time friend and business partner, Jeff Hallen, retiring in 2022.
In 2022, Dean and Deborah moved from their home of 35 years in
Richardson, Tx to their lake home in Oklahoma. Dean enjoyed gardening, landscaping, water sports and most of all music, specifically the Sirius station, classic vinyl.
Through the years, Dean and Deborah and their three children Megan, Aaron and Nathan enjoyed family vacations, cruises, traveling internationally and many years of children's sports and school activities. Cherished memories also include loving family reunions with his aunts, uncles, five siblings and their families as well as Deborah's Mom, Dad, sister and her family.
Dean and Deborah were blessed with three children, Megan Elizabeth (Texas), Aaron Dean (Texas) and Nathan Andrew (Florida). His two sons, who he is very proud of and their individual strengths and achievements, have continued his legacy of hard work, determination and integrity, Aaron as co-owner and business partner of Thinkfind as well as Nathan who served his country as a Sergeant in the elite 75th Ranger Regiment. He was a very proud PaPa, who dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them, he would stop everything to go on a four-wheeler ride and he always made sure they got their bedtime snacks.
Dean lived a life of devotion to his friends and family. He was honest, moral and generous to help in any capacity when needed.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis McCrary, brother-in-law Patrick McBrayer, and two sisters-in-law Therese McCrary and Eloyce Keating.
Grateful to have shared his life are wife, Deborah, of 49 years, his two sons and one daughter, Aaron (Sarah) McCrary, Nathan (Aly) McCrary, Megan (Brandon) Kleiman. Six grandchildren; Kali, Campbell, Kirby and Clara Kleiman, Royce McCrary, Rosie McCrary and two step-grandsons; Jackson Arthur and Shiloh Matzdorf. Three sisters; Sharon (Bob) Stangler (Minnesota), Charleen (Mike) McBrayer (Georgia), Chris (George) Cowherd (Colorado), one brother, Troy (Jill) McCrary (Georgia), two very dear friends Tom (Rene) Palmer and Jeff (Shannan) Hallen and several very special nieces and nephews.
