Dean William Morin

Dean W. Morin a man of profound skill, unwavering faith and a heart as vast as the Alaskan wilderness and many roads he traveled over, died suddenly after a brief battle with pneumonia at St Joseph Hospital in Lewiston on February 20. Dean was born February 2,1954 to Kenneth Morin and Patricia Dark of Eugene, Oregon Dean grew up in the Pacific Northwest with an adventurous spirit and a friend everywhere he went. Dean attended schooling in Eugene along with his brothers Bradley and Markus. Upon completing his education Dean chose to attend Heavy Equipment School. Dean's adventurous spirit led him and a couple friends north to Alaska. Dean built an extraordinary career, serving 43 years with the Operating Engineers local 302. He spent decades mastering the challenging terrain of the Alaskan Tundra, operating heavy equipment carving out roads and infrastructure in some of the most demanding environments. Dean settled in Fairbanks where he welcomed his son Markus Sean. His dedication to the north continued as he worked for the state department of transportation on the Dalton Highway, maintaining a portion of the rugged haul road. Later Dean and then wife Theresa Morin created and worked the Hot Spot Cafe and Gifts. Together they provided a vital service and sanctuary of food and warmth to the traveling tourism industry and truckers making the long stretch to Prudhoe Bay. Dean was a man of remarkable talents and gifts able to make something from nothing. He possessed an ingenuity that was only surpassed by his love for people. Dean retired from both 302 and the State of Alaska. Later marrying his wife Cindy, where together they joined True North Church and developed a deeper faith and love for the Lord. Together they shared a passion for travel and enjoyed life with family and friends, sharing Faith with others. Tragically losing both their sons early, they ventured south to Mexico for a year to heal and explore. Later making lewiston idaho home. Dean is proceeded in Death and united in Heaven with:
