Dean Ray Probst, aged 68, passed away November 21, 2025.
He was born on November 1, 1957, to the late Dean and Nadean Probst in Jefferson, WI.
Dean graduated from Jefferson High School in 1975 and attended UWM for one year. He was a long-time resident of Wisconsin, but went to El Reno, OK when job shortages here compelled him to move there. He returned to Wisconsin in 1986 and settled in Hartford, Wisconsin. He turned to driving semis for a local trucking company and worked there for nearly 10 years. From there he went to work for UPS as one of their semi drivers and retired from there after 26 years.
Dean's passion was guitars, motorcycles, family and friends. He was fascinated by guitars and considered them a major art form. He played a little but was never satisfied with his ability. He always vowed he was going to take lessons when he retired. He built beautiful guitars for friends and repaired them as well. Motorcycles were Dean's way to decompress. Nothing satisfied him more than hopping on his Harley and taking a ride. It didn't matter about the destination. What mattered was that he was on the bike, with the wind in his face.
Dean was respected and loved by many. He had a quiet strength and a good heart with a gift for sarcasm. He would drop everything to help a friend or family at any time. He could fix anything, and I do mean anything. He was a man with strong principes and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Jody (Tocco) Probst, his sons, Josh Probst and Travis Probst, his sister, DeeAnna Deane, his grandchildren, Riley Probst, Isaak Probst, Trystan Probst and Mason Probst, his mother Nadean Probst and many other relatives.
Memorial donations to the family are appreciated.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, WI 53027). Family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
