Dean Moyer Walters

WALTERS, Dean Moyer, of Richmond, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was born March 12, 1938 in Bent Mountain, Virginia, to the late Witt and Perdine Walters. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Walters; three brothers, Carlton, Bobby and Billy Walters; a sister, Shirley Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Bee Thompson. Mr. Walters is survived by his wife of 22 years, Vicki B. Walters; children, Vicky W. Via and husband, Gerald, of Roanoke, Virginia, Cathy Sowers and husband, Wendell, of Christiansburg, Virginia; and a stepdaughter, Terrie Martin and husband, Ed, of Chesterfield, Virginia; two granddaughters, Melissa V. Johnson and husband, Brian, of Fincastle, Virginia, and Trisha T. Heidt and husband, Chris, of Radford, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Emma and Eli Johnson of Fincastle, Virginia; mother-in-law, Geraldine Blair; brother-in-law, Les Blair and wife, Lorraine, of Richmond, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Clair, Totsy and Peggy Walters; former wife, Bonnie Dunn of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He is also survived by his adored feline friends, Muffin and Lucy. A funeral service will take place at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
