Deanna Durbin

My mother was born in May of 1922. She was told by many that she resembled Deanna Durbin. As a child, I loved to watch Deanna Durbin movies, especially since she looked like my mother! She had the most beautiful singing voice.

A beautiful, extremely talented lady who became even more beautiful when she sang. Her voice was so rich and her notes so pure, she could make you feel great joy with almost every song. I'm so glad she had a happy life, doing what she wanted, and being with those she loved. I never tire of her movies or reading about her.

The memory of Deanna Durbin is one of the happiest from my childhood. Deanna stills lives in my heart and her voice cheers me.

Was attending the San Francisco Film Noir Festival this past week (February 2014), when her image was shown during the "In Memoriam" section. I gasped, had somehow missed this information last year. I learned about her career as a child watching her films which were locally televised in Indiana. She always had a special place in my heart. Peace to all her family & friends & may her legacy continue to inspire.

I have over 20 of Deanna's films and I have cut out about 70 musical clips to make into a convenient video digest of her singing in the flesh as it were.
It will make 2 volumes which I will give
titles to and with a potted intro to her life. Ca'nt think of a better way to
remember this star in full song as I wont have to trawl through all the films again for her numbers, the pleasure of watching her acting on-screen can be reserved for other occasions.

Farewell, Deanna. The pipes are calling, the flowers are dying, and the valley is hushed, as the last rose of summer has faded into history.
Like the images on Keats's Grecian Urn, you will be forever young.

Three generations of girls have grown up in our family knowing, watching and enjoying the talents of this beautiful star of music and screen. My mother, who would have been 90 this year, was a dedicated fan in her youth and taught me (59) and we shared Ms. Durbin with my daughter - now 32. This world was blessed to see and listen to such gifts.
May your personal happy memories be joined with our gratitude for comfort.

She is one of my favorite actress, my mother and sister loved watching her movies, our favorite is First Love & Butler 's Sister. We loved her beautiful singing voice and especially loved the songs she sang in her movies. I named my daughter after her.

She was my namesake. My grandmother named me after her. Deanna Louise W. I was always proud of that. She is one of the few real actress that was left. My God real her soul.

As a young girl growing up in the late thirties, Deanna Durbin was my idol. I was a soprano and I sang her songs and tried to be just like her. What joy her films brought to me during my growing up season. I'll never forget her. May our dear Lord comfort you at this time. Rest in peace, Deanna.
