Debbie Louise Winchester, 68, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at her care home in Ventura.
Debbie was born in Los Angeles on November 27, 1956, to Robert and Shirley Neil. She graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1975.
Debbie dedicated over twenty years of her life to her work as a Ventura Unified School District school bus driver. She took great pride in her work and was known for her friendly nature, dependability, and care for every student she transported.
A lover of nature and adventure, Debbie enjoyed spending time at the lake, boating with her family, camping in the RV, and relaxing by the beach. A lifelong animal advocate, she deeply loved dogs and never went on an adventure without them by her side.
She shared a special bond with her husband, Paul, through their mutual love of music. Together, they saw all their favorite bands in concert, often accompanied by her mother, Shirley. The three were inseparable, creating countless cherished memories over the years.
Debbie is survived by her son, Paul Robert Winchester of Ventura; her daughter, Michele Nicole Gunter of Ventura; and her beloved granddaughter, Kaia Nicole Gunter, also of Ventura. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul James Winchester, and her parents, Shirley and Robert Neil.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, in honor of Debbie's strength and courage. The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited during her illness, the compassionate caregivers who prioritized her comfort, and all the loved ones who stood by her side.
As requested, there will be no formal service. Instead, the family will honor Debbie, her husband Paul, and her mother Shirley by spreading their ashes together in Maui, Hawaii-a place filled with beautiful memories and now, their final resting place.
Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
