Debbra Burger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rivertown Funeral Chapel (Ramsay FH Group) on Mar. 27, 2026.
Debbra Sue Burger, lovingly known as Debbie, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, in Bay City, Michigan. Born on August 25, 1954, in Petoskey, Michigan, Debbie lived a life filled with love, faith, and selflessness, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed by her family and the community she cherished.

Debbie is survived by her beloved husband, William Burger, with whom she shared a remarkable journey of love and partnership. Together, they built a family grounded in faith and love, raising three children: Mandi (Joshua) Burger, William A. (Heather) Burger, and Sandy (Michael) Cuevas. Her children were the pride of her life, and she dedicated herself to nurturing and supporting them every step of the way. Debbie's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ashley (Travis) Vongrey, Arnold J. Burger, Paige Lovell, Mikayla Sue Cuevas (Tyler), Benjamin Burger, and Nathaniel Cuevas (Alexandra). Her great-grandchildren, Banks, Emma, Jedidah, Neeko, Carson, and Melaki, brought immense joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Ferguson, whose memory she held dear throughout her life. She is also survived by her loving mother, Nora Ferguson, and her sisters Sandra (Michael) Clark, Jody (Richard) Brown, and Tammie (Michael) Martin, who were not only her siblings but her lifelong friends and confidantes. The bond she shared with her family was a testament to her loving and nurturing nature.

Professionally, Debbie was a dedicated childcare provider for 23 years, during which she touched the lives of countless children and their families. Her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication made her a beloved figure in the community. Beyond her work, Debbie's true calling was in teaching. She found immense joy and fulfillment in teaching Sunday school, where she shared her faith and wisdom with the younger generation. Later, alongside her husband, she taught the "Married for Life" program, ministering to many couples and offering guidance and support for their journeys together.

Debbie was an active member of Redeeming Love Christian Embassy, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her involvement in the church community was a reflection of her deep commitment to her beliefs and her desire to serve others. She was known for her compassion and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her faith-filled life inspired those around her and left a lasting impact on her community.

In her personal life, Debbie cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She delighted in watching them play, laugh, and grow, always there to offer her love and support. Debbie also had a passion for being outdoors, tending to her garden, and nurturing her beloved flowers. Her yard was a testament to her green thumb and her love for nature. One of her favorite pastimes was going garage saling and thrifting with her husband, William. Together, they shared countless adventures, exploring new treasures and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Funeral service will be on Saturday April 4, 2026, at 5pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Engelhart presiding. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1pm till time of service. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Redeeming Love Christian Embassy.

So very to hear about the passing of Debbra. She has been ready for her heavenly homecoming for quite some time! Debbra was a classmate from kindergarten through high school graduation. I am thankful she was a part of my life and I truly did not realize how much of an influence she had in my early life - I do now! Even though I prayed for a miracle for her health issues, she thanked me for that but always was so concerned about the health condition of my wife. She was the perfect example of my favorite scripture - Galatians 6:1; Share each others burdens and in this way fulfill the law of Christ. No more cancer - no more pain - just rejoicing with our savior and those who have passed before us.
