I was blessed to have been a personal friend of Debi. She was a true hero and angel to me. I have been with her when she spoke to many high school/junior high school classes. She definitely made a huge impression on all she spoke to. The kids would come up to her afterward and promise her they would never smoke. She will definitely be missed.

I didn't know Debi but as a smoker who also started young ( at 15 ) I too was inspired by her to quit when I saw the ad on TV and I tried many times. Today is my one year anniversary of being smoke free. Thank you Debi for being brave. Go with God & peace be with you!

I know Debi from her ads. Her's was one of the two most effective I've ever seen, the other one being about wearing seat belts. I realize there was much criticism of the ad, but my guess is it was probably the smoking public, by and large who was the most vocal about it. Debi shared a great deal of vivid truth in her ad which I hope will have saved the life of many. She was, I'm sure a loved woman to her friends and family. I'm sorry you have lost such a brave person.

I can clearly remember and appreciated Debi Austin's commercial. I have always had an interest in preventing classmates and friends from smoking. As a teen, I reached out to the American Cancer Society for a class assignment and a woman was sent whom also had a larynx removed which made a huge impression on the class.

My deepest condolences to your family. Please know that the God of all comfort is with your family and will help you to endure the temporary loss of your loved one. (Romans 15:5)

She was a courageous woman for putting the plight of millions of addicted smokers in the forefront. You have my condolences. I will be 21 years w/o a cigarette in May and know if I picked up one today, I would be right back. It is a horrible legal addiction.
