Debora Stokes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Roanoke on Mar. 10, 2026.
Debora Irene Stokes, affectionately known as Rug-Rat Nana, passed away on March 4, 2026. She was born on February 5, 1958, in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Perry H. Hackett and Shirley A. Hay Hackett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul E. Hackett.

Debora lovingly served her community through many years of work supporting and nurturing children in day care field and later serving customers in the retail industry. She dedicated much of her life to helping others. Debora cherished her family, with a particularly special bond shared with her daughters. She treasured her beloved dogs, Gracie and Bell, who were constant sources of comfort and companionship. Debora found happiness in dancing and in the music that she loved; her passion for dancing and music was a beautiful part of who she was. She also found joy in exploring yard sales and discovering little treasures.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Carl "Lucky" Hambrick; her daughters, Hope Lupton and her husband, Tracy, Marie Clark and her husband, Steven; grandchildren, Taylor, Kasey, and Hailey Clark; great-granddaughter, Amelia Wilson; her sisters, Carol Carr and her husband Ronnie Carr and Vickie Patram and partner, George Butterworth; a special aunt, Nancy Lee Shelburne; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 2pm to 4pm at Valley Funeral Home chapel.
