Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences to Deb´s family and friends. I worked with her for many years at the Va. I remember training her on second shift when she started as a nursing assistant. She was such a hard worker and cared so much for her patients. We also trained together when she started as a secretary too, and she was incredible at that as well. Anything she did was done wonderfully and with such enthusiasm. She always went above and beyond in her job. I admired her so much as a coworker and friend. Deb had a huge heart and a beautiful soul. She loved talking her pictures. I remember her posing my wife and I at the Union Christmas party one year until we were standing absolutely perfect. If I took a picture of her she would always make me wait until she was posed perfectly too before I took the photo. She made everyone smile and laughed so easily. Deb was such an incredibly eloquent and charming person. Her excitement and joy was infectious to whoever was around her. I know in my heart that heaven truly gained an Angel because she was one in life.

As everyone has said, there is no one memory with Deb because there were too many and beautiful ones at that! This amazing person NEVER EVER forgot a birthday or any special event in a persons life no matter who you are. And one absolutely amazing thing is no matter who the veteran was coming in she ALWAYS knew the last 4 numbers of their social security number! How she ever could do that was so incredibly amazing to me! I will never understand how she could do that! She ran that floor like a champ and it´s never been the same since she left. Let´s face it we all know Deb is in heaven because she earned those beautiful wings while here with us on earth. And I just know she has met up with my mom and just picture those two getting to know one another! I´m sure it´s magical! Deb was definitely a one of a kind and I was lucky enough to know her! How lucky am I for that! Thanks for all your beautiful life lessons and memories rest easy beautiful!

Mrs. Debbie was the sweetest person I know. Always grabbing you and making you take a picture with her, even when you didn´t like "pretty" that day. Didn´t matter, you were gonna be in her picture! A warm ray of sunshine that brightened every room she entered. Rest now Pretty Lady. I´ll miss you.

There are too many memories to even come up with one that would encompass who Deb was to all of us. I worked with her at the VA until I retired almost 6 years ago and after that had the fortune of seeing Deb occasionally at a monthly luncheon that a few other retirees attended. I don´t remember a time that she didn´t take a picture to commemorate any special occasion....and for Deb that could be anything at all. She had a huge personality and endeared herself to everyone she interacted with. She will leave a void that can´t be filled....but her memory will live on in our minds forever.

I met Deb in 1993 we were neighbors our boys became friends and played together they were the New York undercover we would call them from the movie series we reconnected at the Saginaw VAMC and picked up our friendship right where we had left off. I loved hearing about Quincy his achievements and she was so proud when he became a husband and father. Deb is Captivating and has a heart of God.She always put others first. Her love for her husband Chet was a true love story.Thank you for capturing all the pictures at my wedding and from so many memories we made together. You will be missed. Love Ya

Deb was a beautifully amazing, fun loving, kind hearted, God fearing, and generous woman. Her smile filled the room and her personality was larger than life. I had the honor of meeting Deb in December of 2015 while beginning a new nursing job in the Community Living Center at the VA Medical Center in Saginaw. She was very kind and welcomed me in as one of her "work daughters." Some of my fondest memories include looking at pictures and watching videos of her grandchildren, singing and dancing to her favorite music artists in the dayroom and at Party on McCarty, her love for celebrating birthdays, her selections for the color of the week, her amazing organizational skills, her love and respect for the Veterans, her generous heart, and overall zest for life. Deb was truly One of a Kind. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. I send prayers of comfort, and my deepest and most sincere condolences. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. May you Rest in Peace Sugarfoot. Love you forever, Aurelia " Rae" Hanskett
