Deborah Brooks, affectionately known as "Debbie" and "Deb" was born in Annapolis, MD on October 17, 1950 to the late William Brooks and Alverta Wells. She departed this life on October 23, 2025 at Capital Region Medical Center in Prince George's County.
She received her education in the Anne Arundel County Public School System. Deborah obtained employment with Anne Arundel General Hospital (Franklin Street, Annapolis, MD) where she retired after 30+ years. She later worked at Pathways for 10 years and then part time for Service Master and as a school crossing guard. Debbie enjoyed shopping, watching football (especially the Washington Commanders), gardening, home improvement, watching Court TV and Family Feud.
Deborah was a devoted member of Capital Church of Christ for 24 years. She enjoyed serving the church community during special events. Additionally, she loved working in the church's garden.
Loving and fond memories will be cherished by her son-Elliott Cook; daughter-Chantel Martin (Rico); grandchildren-Amod Coleman and Avani Martin; godson-DeMario Snowden; sisters-Asia Blake, Nora Blake, Valtina Blake, Linda Brown (Kevin), and Regina Brooks; brothers-Horace Blake (Beverly), Alonzo Blake and William Brooks (Margaret}; aunt-Martha Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters-in-law-Sheila Colbert and Phedocia Downs; and special friends-DeShirle Rowel, Doris Snowden, Monica Brown, Phylistine Booth, Cathy Brown, and Marvin Allsup.
In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her life-long partner-Nolan Brown; sisters-Clarice Bridges, Sharon Neal, and Christia Matthews; brothers-Gregory Downs, Milton Colbert, Jr., Reginald Brooks, and Benjamin Brooks; grandparents-Robert and Mary Elizabeth Wells; aunt-Mary Brooks and uncle-Maclaine Brooks.
A public viewing will be held at Capital Church of Christ, 1790 Lincoln Dr, Annapolis, MD 21401, on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 10 am until the beginning of her funeral service at 11 am. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
