McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation - Goose Creek LocationDeborah Renee Brunson, 62, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Born on July 15, 1963 in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Genevieve Carroll and John Ray Jones.
Renee was a member of Northwood Baptist at Wando Woods. She was absolutely crazy for cats. Renee was an amazing artist, always creative and full of ideas. She loved family gatherings and had a natural knack for interior design. She enjoyed camping and was always up for an adventure.
She spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Renee was the family historian and devoted many hours to researching on Ancestry.com. She and her husband had recently bought a motorcycle and loved going for rides together.
Renee is preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Linda; father-in-law, Ellis Jr.; and her niece, Kaela.
Renee is survived by her husband, Ellis Brunson; sisters: Denise Tompkins and Celeste Cockcroft (Wade); sister-in-law, Lori Powers (Tony); nieces and nephews: Morgan Cockcroft (Ben), Kelsey Slaton, Kevin Cockcroft, and Thomas Ayers (Emily); grand-niece, Memphis; grand-nephew, Hunter; fur babies: Pepper, Ziggy, Willow, JoJo and Jax.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Northwood Baptist at Wando Woods, 4123 Dorsey Avenue in North Charleston, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow with a reception in the fellowship hall afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meow Dog Animal Rescue.
