Deborah Jean Franklin, affectionately known as Deborah to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Auburn, Alabama. Born on July 28, 1954, in LaGrange, Georgia, Deborah's warmth and vivacious spirit were evident from a young age. Her journey of 70 years was marked by an unwavering dedication to her loved ones and a joy for life that was truly infectious.
Deborah's life was one of loving service and gentle strength. As a dedicated mother, she poured her heart into raising her children, Ken Franklin, who is married to Heather, and Stephanie Franklin. Her love extended to her stepsons, Kenny and Dwayne Franklin, who she embraced as her own. Deborah's role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, and she was a guiding light in the lives of her grandchildren, Luke, Cora, Grant, and Saliese Franklin. Her presence in their lives will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Beyond her immediate family, Deborah was a beloved sister to Tony Bailey and his wife Cheryl, Jimmy Bailey, and Rachel Spradlin. Her nieces, nephews, and extended family members found in her a kindred spirit and a confidante. Deborah's ability to create a sense of family and belonging was one of her most extraordinary gifts.
Professionally, Deborah's career was characterized by her personable nature and her flair for connecting with people. As a Custom Jewelry sales associate, she helped countless individuals find the perfect piece to celebrate life's milestones. Her charm and eye for detail made her a favorite among her clientele. Deborah also dedicated many years as a cashier at the Short Stop convenience store, where her smile and friendly conversation became a staple for the regulars who frequented the shop.
Deborah's interests were as vibrant and varied as her personality. She found joy in the excitement of casino trips, where she reveled in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of friends. However, her greatest pleasure was found in the time she spent with her family. Whether it was a simple family dinner, a holiday gathering, or a spontaneous visit, those moments were the ones she treasured most.
Those who knew Deborah would describe her as loving-a word that only begins to capture the essence of her generous spirit. Her love was a constant, unwavering force that she shared freely and without expectation.
As we say goodbye to Deborah Jean Franklin, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind-a legacy of love, laughter, and the unspoken bonds that connect us all. Her memory will live on in the stories shared among those who knew her and in the hearts of her family, who were her greatest pride and joy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Visitation Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
