Mrs. Deborah Bentley Gillette , 69 entered the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, September 3, 2020 after a battle with Covid 19. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Carolina Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel, North Charleston. Debbie is survived by Cleve, her high school sweetheart and husband of 49 years, son, Andy Gillette (Ashley) of Hanahan and daughter, Pam Parker(Steve) of Summerville, sister, Beth Hairfield(Steve) of Hanahan, brother Ed Bentley(Claudia) of Hanahan and her mom, her constant companion, Jean(Nanny) Bentley. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Rosey Gillette, Scotty Parker, Lily Parker, Dearsley Gillette, Emmylou Parker and Ruff Gillette along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Claude Bentley and a nephew, Eddie Bentley. Debbie was a Charter member of Cooper River Baptist Church and worked in the Children's Department for over 20 years. She also loved to decorate the Church for Christmas, Easter, showers and other special events. Debbie was the ultimate care giver, whenever someone in the family needed to be cared for from an accident to a surgery Debbie was who they asked to help. Debbie was Nanny's caregiver for the last eight years and her 24 hour caregiver for the past year. She made sure Nanny never wanted for anything. She would read the Bible to Nanny every night. Debbie loved to quilt by hand. She and Cleve visited quilt shops across the country in order to find just the right material for the next quilt. "The best kind of sleep beneath Heaven Above is under a Quilt, handmade with Love". Miss Debbie as she was known to so many people will be remembered as the sweet and caring person she was to everyone she met. In lieu of Flowers memorials can be made to Water Mission or Cooper River Baptist Church.

Debbie Gillette is one of the sweetest ladies I have had the honor to have met. Her sweet soft voice reminded me so much like my mother. Debbie is a perfect example of someone who truly lived in the presence of God on a daily bases, with Jesus walking beside her.

Love to Her Precious Family and All who Loved Her.

Mr. Cleve, Andy and Pam,
I am very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with your family. I specifically remember Andy being excited back in our young high school years to take a bunch of us to his house for some of his mom’s “bodacious brownies”. I can still hear that quote in my mind today. Anyway, it’s a small memory that has lasted a long time. Take care.

Debbie, you , your sister, and mom were in my very first teaching class at Friendship Baptist Church learning how to hand cut, piece, and quilt. You have been very dear to my heart in keeping the traditions up. You will be missed. This was a surprise to hear of your passing.

I remember the first time Cleve brought Debbie home to meet our family. She was so beautiful and so quiet. My favorite memory is when they came into Burger King, where I was working, and told me that they were expecting!! I felt so special that they came there just to tell me. I will always love and miss her. My heart cracks a little bit every time I think of Cleve ,Andy and Pam. Debbie's passing has left a large hole in our family. I love all of them.

The first time I met Miss Debbie she had Rainbow Row wallpaper border throughout the downstairs of your family home. I loved it, but I didn't know it was called Rainbow Row. I had a watercolor of Rainbow Row BriAnne LaCroix had given me and it had the artist's name on it and for some reason I thought the artist, Freda Hanna, was the name of the area. So I said something silly and Miss Debbie just said something like "Bless Your Heart, that's Rainbow Row" and we shared a really great laugh. She was very kind. I'll never forget that moment. Sending you love and condolences. I am so very sorry for your loss.
