Deborah Ann "Debbie" Griffith passed away Sunday, March 17th, 2024 at Haven Hospice of Lake City, FL.
Debbie was born November 21, 1963 in Naples, Florida. Days after graduating from Lely High School in 1981, Debbie married her high school sweetheart, Joseph (Joe) Wayne Griffith, Jr. During their 42 years of marriage, they made their home, worked, and raised their family in Naples until 1999, at which time they moved with their two teenagers to Jennings, FL.
Debbie worked many years in banking, and prior to early retirement, Debbie worked ten years for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, in the control room at the Hamilton County Jail. While successful outside of the home, Debbie's goal in life was to be a wife and mother and she achieved that goal with remarkable success.
Debbie was lovingly known as "Crazy Grandma" by her grandchildren because she would join right in with their shenanigans, laughing and being silly with them. Even her grandchildren's friends called her Crazy Grandma.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Joe; her daughter, Heather (Chris) Hotchkiss; her son, Benjamin (Kylie) Griffith, seven grandchildren, including: granddaughters, Jasmine Griffith, Alyssa Griffith, Hannah Griffith, Hailey Griffith, and Josephine Hotchkiss and grandsons, Michah Hotchkiss and Aiden Griffith. She was looking forward to the arrival of her first great-grandchild in June.
Debbie is also survived by her mother, Carla Goldie; two sisters, Brenda (Scott) Heiser and Laura (Robert) Johnson; three brothers: Tony (Debbie) Goldie, James Goldie, and Roger (Darlene) Walker; her mother-in-law, Martha Griffith; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Debbie's last few days were spent under the care of some wonderful, caring people at Haven Hospice, where her every need was met and they tried to care for her family as much as they could. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made in Debbie's name to Haven Hospice.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL with a time of visitation held just before the service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
