Deborah Ann Hackney, 62, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on April 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on October 14, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio, Deborah was the daughter of the late Ferrell and Betty (Connolly) Hackney. Early in life, she pursued a career as a paralegal, where she demonstrated her intelligence, strength, and fierce advocacy for what she believed in. She was a passionate supporter of women's rights and independence.
Later in life, she embraced her role as a homemaker, pouring her heart into her home and family. Her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren.
Deborah's first love was music. She enjoyed all genres, but rock was her favorite. She cherished spending time with friends and family at concerts, making memories through shared experiences and the music she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Steven J. Broski; her children James (Valentina) Bednarski and Kellie (Morley) Mitchell; and her stepchildren Penny (Jason) Smith and Steven Jr. (Gwyn) Broski. Deborah leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Valerie Riccardi, Emily Nagel, Cameron Emerick, JJ Nagel, Andrew Emerick, Lyza Riccardi, Jasmine Bednarski, Tyler Broski, and Rogan Mitchell.
She is also survived by her siblings: Keith (Jennifer) Hackney, Tim (Lori) Hackney, Kim Miller, and Johnny Hackney (Damon Beard), as well as her sister-in-law Becky Hackney.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Ferrell and Betty (Connolly) Hackney; her brother, Alan Hackney; and her brother-in-law, Mike Miller.
Deborah will be remembered for her strength, unwavering love for her family, and passionate spirit. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
