Deborah C. Hower

Deborah C. Hower, 67, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother, of Chapel Drive, Mahoning Township, Lehighton, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was the wife of John Hower. They were married for 42 years.

She worked for many years at Paris Accessories, Walnutport, and then retired from Thermal Fisher Scientific, Fogelsville, after working there for 12 years.

Born on Friday, July 15, 1955, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of Evelyn (Moyer) Shafer and the late Raymond Shafer.

She was a graduate of Boyertown High School.

She enjoyed feeding and watching her hummingbirds, doing crafts, going to yard sales, and the companionship of her dog.

Deborah had a fondness for Lady Bugs.

She was a loving wife and doting mother.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are four daughters, Christine Moynihan, Robin Fogarty, Angela, wife of Jason Greenzweig, and Crystal Hower; four sons, James "Jimmy" Fogarty and his wife, Cara, Raymond Fogarty, John H. Hower and his companion, Sylvia Faenza, and John "Bud" Hower Jr. and his fiancée, Brionna Sura; a brother, Raymond Shafer and his wife, Tammy; a sister; Penny; 22 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Service: Funeral service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2066 W. Penn Pike New Ringgold, with the Rev. Greg Liable officiating. Interment, private. Call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.
