Deborah Sue Neal Hughes, 71, of Bear Creek, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Chatham Hospital. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00, p.m. at Fair Promise UMC, where she was a member, with Rev. Tom Hallberg presiding. The family will receive friends after the service. Joyce-Brady Chapel will be open on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm for friends to sign the register.
Debbie was born in Moore County on March 29, 1951 to Bobbie Louise Neal Phillips. She was a hair stylist. She loved to cook for and entertain her family and friends. She also enjoyed the outdoors and working in her flowers.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her son, Nicky Hughes; aunt, Beatrice Beal and grandparents, Willis and Jessie Neal.
She is survived by her husband, Ted “Steve” Hughes; brother, Mike Neal (Joan), of Bear Creek; aunts. Marie Phillips, Ann Thomas and Lois Oldham, all of Bear Creek; brothers-in-law, Chuck, Mike and Chris Hughes and a host of family and friends.
In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Fair Promise UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Carmen Hussey, 372 N. Howard Mill Rd., Robbins, NC 27325.
