Deborah Lusk

ROCK – Deborah Kay Lusk, 75, of Rock, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Born November 21, 1950, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late George Akers and Phyllis Dick Akers Hardy.

She was a member of Rock Assembly of God. Deborah retired from Princeton Community Hospital, after more than forty years, where she served in many positions. Deborah was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took pride in her home and family. She was a wonderful cook and was always cleaning. She was a collector of dishes and would change her place settings seasonally. She enjoyed reading. She also enjoyed her frequent "dates" with her husband Roger going to auctions. She adored her family. She was a foster parent to over 50 children through the years. She set a wonderful example of opening her home and that example has now extended to many of her children who are following their mother's passion for caring for children who need loving homes. She was a loving person who was readily was willingly to help anyone who needed her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chris Lusk, sister, Kathie Dorinda Akers; brother, Ernie Akers; and step-father, Kurt Hardy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Roger Lusk of Rock; children, Dale Lusk, Alisha Henderson and husband Jeff of Princeton, Michelle Broadway and husband Joseph of Lexington, NC, Maranda Estepp and husband Anthony of Bristol, VA, Tiaunna Lusk of Princeton, and Benjamin Lusk of the home; grandchildren, Christopher, Mackayla, Logan, Levi, Lainey, Duke, Sirtoree, and Amari; and great-granddaughter, Karley; brothers, Woodie Akers and wife Judy of Beeson, and John Akers and wife Peggy of Winston Salem, NC; sisters, Janet Akers of Bland, VA, Mary McMahon and husband John of Beeson, and Melissa Shrewsbury and husband Earnie of Beeson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and cousins; and many special friends and church family.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Harold Chinsolo, officiating. Interment will follow at the Lusk Family Cemetery on Reese Harmon Ridge in Lashmeet.

Chrisopher Lusk, Benjamin Lusk, Joseph Broadway, Jeff Henderson, and Ashley Sparks will serve as pallbearers. Dale Lusk will serve as honorary pallbearer.
