Deborah Sue McCarthy-Goodwin, 54 of Syracuse died Monday, January 12, 2026 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
She was born December 22, 1971 in Goshen to Dwight and Patsy R. (Kettlebar) Goodwin.
Survivors include a son, Will (Beth) McCarthy of Fort Wayne; daughter, RaeAnn McCarthy of Millersburg; granddaughter, Abigail McCarthy; a brother, Michael Goodwin of Goshen, and former husband, Dennis McCarthy of Millersburg.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Officer Thomas Goodwin.
A member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Deborah worked for Wawasee Boat. Co. She loved crocheting, crafting and DYI projects. Her pets were always close to her heart and she was committed to daily journaling.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen where a 10 a.m. funeral will be conducted Friday, January 16, 2026. Police Chaplain Gregg Lanzen will officiate.
Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Thomas Goodwin Memorial Scholarship Fund.
