Deborah Stanley Obituary

Deborah "Debbie" A. Stanley, 71 a resident of Garner, NC passed away suddenly Friday, January 30, 2026 at her home. Debbie was born and raised in Bennington, Vermont.

She married Robert G. Stanley in Shaftsbury, Vermont in January of 1984. They spent over 30 years together building a beautiful family filled with love, prior to Bobby's passing in November of 2017.

Debbie was a true survivor. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with grit, grace, and an unshakable spirit. Her greatest pride was her family. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Robert Stanley (Sandy) of Garner, NC, Desiré Shiffer (Aaron) of Garner, NC and Thomas Mayhew (Trish) of Irvington, VA. She was also a loving grandmother to her six granddaughters Arya Stanley, Avery and Taylor Shiffer, and Stella, Millie and Hazel Mayhew. Her granddaughters brought her endless joy and purpose and they will miss their Mema greatly.

Debbie's heart extended beyond people, she had a special love for her dogs, Milo and River, who were always close by her side. They were part of her family in every sense of the word.

If Debbie was in the room, you knew it. Her presence was bold, warm, and unforgettable. She was full of life, love, and never afraid to be herself. She was a talented cook, a true WeatherBug (which many of her granddaughters now share) and she filled every room with energy and laughter that stayed with you long after she left.

In addition to her children, Debbie is survived by her mother, Elaine Reynolds of Bennington, VT, her siblings Doreen and Danny Sachau and other extended family members, including her brother and sister-in-law Tommy and Dawn Stanley and her niece Jasmin Sachau who held a special place in her heart.

Debbie will be remembered as a woman who loved fiercely, lived loudly, and gave her whole heart to the people she cherished most. Her spirit lives on through her children, her granddaughters, and all who were lucky enough to know her.

A private memorial will be held for family.

If friends should desire, contributions in memory of Debbie, may be made to 3 Bluebirds Farm via check mailed to 1001 Horse Creek Rd, Raleigh, NC 27603 or online at www.3bluebirdsfarm.org.
