New Iberia, LA - A Home-going Celebration of Life for Mrs. Debra "Deboroah" Kay Broussard, the former Deboroah Kay Livingston will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church (414 S. Weeks Street).
Pastor T. J. Andrus will officiate and Rev. Mark E. Lewis, Sr. will be the Eulogist.
She will await the resurrection in Mount Calvary Memorial Park (Neco Town Road) in
New Iberia, LA.
The visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church beginning at 9:00 A.M. until the beginning of the Omega Omega Service of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at 9:30 A.M. and then resume until 10:45 A.M.
Mrs. Debra "Deboroah" Kay Livingston Broussard was a resident of
New Iberia, LA. She departed this Earthly life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 3:01 P.M. at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Debra was a dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in
New Iberia, LA, where she served as the Secretary of Trustee Board, Vice-President of the Mission Ministry, Congress of Christian Education Instructor, Teacher for Discipleship Training, Deaconess, former Director of Vacation Bible School, former Director of Choirs, and former Usher. For over five decades, she was actively involved with the Union Sixth District Missionary Baptist Association where she served as the District's Woman's Auxiliary Chairperson for the Annual Woman's Day and most recently was appointed Vice-President of the District's Woman's Auxiliary West Region. She was also a longtime active member of the Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
Scholastically, Debra attended schools In Iberia Parish, where she was a graduate of Jonas Henderson High School Class of 1965. By furthering her education, she earned her B.A. and Master's degrees at Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA in addition to her Masters+30: Educational Assessment Teacher and Educational Diagnostician at University of Louisiana.
Debra's strong work ethics afforded her fruitful work experiences. She began her teaching career in the Saint Martin Parish School System for two years; Iberia Parish school system for 34+ years, retiring in 2003. After retirement, she was a substitute teacher for the Iberia Parish school system for 12+ years.
Being community-oriented, Debra was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., member of Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, President of Mary B. Amos Retired Teachers Association, member of New Iberia-St.Mary Parish Chapter of Southern University Alumni, Board Member and President of Council on Aging and member of the Dazzlin' Sugar Mammas Red Hat Society, Inc. of
New Iberia, LA.
Her hobbies included reading, teaching the Bible, singing, and traveling.
Debra leaves a legacy of love to her son, Brentley Paul Broussard and his wife, Bethany Knatt-Broussard of Broussard, LA; five grandchildren, Kaylavell Tranae' Broussard, Amber Nicole Broussard, Priya George, Riley Karson Broussard, and Reese Alexis Broussard; one stepdaughter, Pamela Broussard VanWright of Port Arthur, TX; one sister, Carolyn Livingston Pierre of Loreauville, LA; two brothers, Earl Livingston and Ronald Livingston of
New Iberia, LA; three sisters-in-law: Julia "Marie" Tillman, Jane Polk Jackson and Donna Livingston ( "her Road Dog"); a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Walter Paul "Bobby" Broussard; parents, Mae Ruth Jackson Simon and Willie "T-Dud" Livingston; two sisters, Betty Simon Scott and Anna Lois Simon; four brothers, McArthur Livingston, Allender Livingston, Kenneth Livingston, and Randy Livingston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert Broussard, Sr. and Harriet Gardner Broussard; one stepdaughter, Lavelva Broussard; one stepson: Brian Broussard and Randall Broussard; four brothers-in-law, Johnny Scott, Joseph Vivian Pierre, John Broussard, and James "JB" Broussard.
Serving as Active Pallbearers are Juan Delahoussaye, Ernest Dorsey, III, Kevin Joseph, Chad Pradia, and Jamal Rankins.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Riley Broussard, Pastor Francis L. Davis, Earl Livingston Jackson, Jamar Lewis, Ronald Livingston, and Alfred Phillips.
In Debra's words, "My greatest gift from God was spending time with my son, his wife, and my grandchildren!!! To Him I give the glory."
