Debra (Deb) Sue (Hand) Seipel passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC, after a prolonged hospitalization. Her husband and son were at her side.
She is survived by her husband Richard (Rick), her son Joseph (Joe), his wife Kimberly, and two grandsons, Henry and Eli, as well as her two sisters, Denise Lafone and Michelle Arevalo.
Debra was a retired Elkin City Schools employee. In her retirement Deb spent several years volunteering with Yadkin Valley Hospice. Over the past ten years, she volunteered at the Hugh Chatham Hospital gift shop with several of her closest friends. Deb attended The Ohio State University and Salem College where she was selected to attend the Physician Assistant program at Wake Forest. She had to decline the appointment due to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Deb enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends. Her favorite places were Williamsburg, Edisto Island and Lake Lure.
A viewing will be held at Elkin Funeral Service, 560 Highway 268 West, on Friday evening, January 31, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 209 Lon Ave, Boonville, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin.
