Debra Burdess Deroy

Debra (Debbie) Burdess Deroy, 64, of Hazen originally from Redfield, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born Thursday, March 31, 1960 in Story City, Iowa to the late Glenn Dale and Mary Elizabeth (Vermeesch) Burdess. Debra was very devoted to her Baptist faith. She spent time daily in Bible study and prayer. Debbie fought multiple health issues in the last years of her life. Although she had her battles in life, she always found her refuge in Jesus. After moving to Maple Healthcare in Hazen, Debra used her faith and friendship as a way to help those around her. She would make special stops by the rooms of other residence just to talk and let them know she was there for them. Debbie loved playing on her phone and tablet, sending cute silly animal videos and pictures to family and friends. She talked to her family on the phone as often as she could. The only thing more important to Debra than her faith was her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Deroy and brother, Jeff Burdess.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sara Zemanek (Chris), Shane Dunn (Stephanie), Haley Dunn (Dillon), Logan Clark and twelve grandchildren. In addition, Ms. Deroy is survived by siblings Sherry Burdess Raber (John), Steven Burdess (Diane), Ronnie Burdess; her dog, Maze; along with a host of dearly loved family and friends.
