Debra Jeanne "Deb" Haines, 73, of Independence, Missouri, passed into eternal glory on March 30, 2025. Born on September 15, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Deb lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her many creative talents.
A proud graduate of the High School class of 1969 in Cedar Springs, MI, Deb spent her days nurturing the home and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
She was a loving wife to Bruce Haines and a devoted mother to her sons John Vogel and Jason Vogel and daughter Jenni Lomonte and husband Jason as well as step-mom to Bruce's daughter's Lisa, Jill & Hillary. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family—she played a pivotal role in her four biological grandchildren's lives and embraced many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren with open arms. She was the best Grandma.
Deb is also remembered by her sister Cheryl Pease and husband Carl, and brother Charles “Andy” Brantner and wife Carol. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Jeanne Brantner; two infant sisters, Brenda and Karen; two babies of her own she loved dearly; and her beloved grandbaby Stella.
Creativity flowed through every aspect of Deb’s life. She was an accomplished cake baker/decorator whose confections brought joy to countless celebrations over the years. She was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and wildlife at her home. Her passion for crafts knew no bounds—she created beautiful flower arrangements, knitted hats for newborns, and lovingly sewed and knitted doll clothes for her granddaughters. Her hands were rarely still; they were always busy creating something special for someone she loved.
Deb’s love for her family was matched only by her deep faith. A faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Christ, she spent many years laboring in service to the Lord. Whether serving as a church librarian or reporter or supporting ministry work as the wife of a minister, Deb’s commitment to her spiritual community was unwavering.
Deb leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, faith, and family devotion. Her legacy of kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and cherished her.
A private memorial service celebrating Deb’s life will be held at a later date.
