Debra Helen "Debbie" Jenis (Honer), age 70, of Whitefield, New Hampshire, formerly of Merrimac, M.A., and Bartlett, N.H., passed peacefully from this life and went home to God on October 27, 2025, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, N.H., with her family by her side.
Born on February 14, 1955, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clemence and Helen(Cork)Honer. Debra was a woman of deep compassion, intelligence, and unwavering faith. She pursued her calling in nursing at Loyola University School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois, graduating with the Class of 1980. Her career as a Registered Nurse spanned decades and touched countless lives across New England.
Debra began her professional journey at New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She continued her work at Salem Hospital in Salem, MA; Travelers Insurance Company's "Ask a Nurse" program in Waltham, MA; White Mountain Community Health Center in Conway, N.H.; and Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H., where she served as an office nurse. Later in life, she brought her warmth and energy to Bretton Woods Ski Resort as a ski ticket seller-an opportunity that combined her love for people with her passion for the outdoors.
Debra was the beloved wife of Gregory G. Jenis. Together they shared 39 years of marriage built on mutual devotion and love. She was also a caring and loving mom, to Heidi D. Jenis of Syracuse, U.T., and Nicholas G. Jenis of San Jose, California, whose nurturing spirit defined every aspect of her life.
A true floraphile, Deb filled her home with vibrant plants and flowers-many lovingly propagated from clippings she had collected over the years. Her green thumb extended to her outdoor gardens as well, where she found peace and joy among nature's beauty.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Debra cherished walks through the forest with family and the dogs by her side. Biking and skiing adventures were treasured moments that brought laughter and connection to those she held dear.
Her intellectual curiosity never waned. Debra was an avid reader who found solace in solving crossword puzzles and math problems-her own form of therapy. She also enjoyed knitting, creating pieces that reflected both patience and care.
Despite facing numerous serious health challenges over the years, Debra never complained. Her unshakable faith in God sustained her through every trial. Her spirit remained undampened-a testament to the strength and grace with which she lived each day.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother Steve Honer and sisters Patsy Hollick and Barbara Cicarelli.
Debra's legacy is one of kindness, resilience, humor, and boundless love-a life lived fully through service to others and devotion to family.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
