FLETCHER - Debra Ann Nelson, 64 of Fletcher, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in her home.
She was born on August 22, 1961, in Troy, Ohio to Edward Junior and Helen Jeannette (Ceyler) McCrossin. Debbie was a 1978 graduate of Miami East High School. On January 13, 1989, she married the love of her life, Jay, and together they built a beautiful life together.
She enjoyed reading, decorating for the holidays, and spending time with her family. Debbie had a deep love for music-especially Bob Seger-and found much joy in caring for her plants and working in her garden.
Throughout the years, she worked in several roles, including as a waitress at Perkins in Troy, and later at Springs, Orchard, Shep's Golden Lantern, Harrisons, and Carl's Drive Thru. No matter where she worked, Debbie was known for her warm personality, strong work ethic, and compassion for others. Debbie always had a smile to share and never failed to make others laugh. She was a light in the lives of those who loved her and will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jay Warren Nelson II; her daughter, Jessica Lynn Nelson "Sousa"; her sons, Benjamin Scott Nelson and Joshua Wayne Nelson; and her five beloved grandchildren: Riley, Abigail, Journee, Olivia, and Jay. She is also survived by her brothers, Tim Wayne McCrossin and Rex Allen McCrossin; her sisters, Alison Leanne McCrossin and April McCrossin Hutchinson; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ed McCrossin, and many aunts and uncles.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 24, 2025, in the Suber, Shively & Vernon funeral home, Fletcher, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the funeral home with Pastor Tina Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
