Debra Rose Reisberg was born in the borough of Brooklyn, in New York City on February 10th, 1955 at Caledonian Hospital, to proud parents Irene and Abraham Reisberg.
Two years later, they were blessed with another baby girl, which they named Daryl.
Debbie attended P.S. 20 elementary school, then went on to Midwood High School and upon completion then entered Brooklyn College. There she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She then went on to earn a Masters of Arts Degree from New York University's School of Education, Health, Nursing, and Arts Professions.
Debbie went on to become a member of A.S.H.A. (The American Speech - Language - and Hearing Association), as well as becoming a Certified Member of N.D.T.A. (The Neuro Developmental Treatment Association).
Debbie began her career working for United Cerebral Palsy of New York, working with children with speech and feeding issues. She later decided to share her talents with children, newborns up to three years of age, in the field of early intervention. She excelled in the field, and was held in such high regard, that she was sought after by many different agencies.
In 1996, Debbie married Edward Emanuel, a long time friend that she always referred to as "Eddie". They married later in life so they didn't have any children together.
Debbie loved to travel, and went on to many adventures while she was single with various friends and family. She continued her love of travel after marrying Eddie and often made him her travel companion, whether he wanted to go or not. Debbie was never one for taking "no" for an answer.
She loved animals.
She was known to have either a cat or a dog, or sometimes both. Oddly enough, they all managed to get along.
In 2016, Debra and Eddie decided to retire, and relocated from their home in New Jersey to Fort Myers, Florida, where they made many new friends, re-connected with some old friends, and were even lucky enough to have her sister Daryl and her family move to Fort Myers as well.
Debbie suffered a stroke in July of 2023. Try as she might, her injury became too much to overcome. So, on January 1st, 2024, we were left with no choice but to admit her into hospice.
On January 20th, 2024 at 10:30 in the morning, God called Debra back home.
Debra leaves behind:
