Debra Sargent Obituary

Debra E. Sargent

Ashwaubenon - July 16, 1956 - August 6, 2021

Debra "Debbie" E. Sargent, 65, of Ashwaubenon, WI, passed away peacefully at her home on August 6, 2021 after a 23-month courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the daughter of David and the late Marlys (Ogaard) Borchardt and was born on July 16, 1956 in Raleigh, NC. Her family moved to Northbrook, IL and later Elm Grove, WI where she attended Brookfield Central and graduated in 1974. Debbie earned a BA degree from UW Oshkosh in 1978.

Shortly after she graduated college, she started working for WBAY up until the birth of her first born where she then enjoyed every moment of being a stay-at-home-mom. While Dana and Ross were in school, she babysat several children of the Green Bay Packers. Over the years she worked for Dean Foods, Promotional Designs and Humana Insurance Company where she retired in 2017.

Debbie found her true purpose when she welcomed the birth of her two children, stepchildren and later her grandchildren. Family were the most important people in her life. Debbie had countless friends. Her gift of making a positive impact, with her contagious laugh and beautiful smile made her hard to forget. Debbie enjoyed "birthday club" celebrations with her long-time girlfriends every month, walking her dog Boone, watching the Packers, Brewers and Bucks play and supporting her grandkids in all of their endeavors.

Survivors include husband, Tom Sargent; two children, Dana (Brandon) Kucksdorf and Ross Van Gompel. Three stepchildren; Hope Sargent-Reyes (Pete), Jeremiah (Crystal) Sargent and Jordan Sargent (Paige). Eight grandchildren; Ashley Hudson, SrA Blake (Serie) Bowden-Sargent, Megan (Jeremy) Jorns, Grant Reyes, Brooklyn and Callen Kucksdorf, Addisyn Powell and her mother Ashley, and Jayla Sargent. One great-grandchild; Dean Hudson; her father, David Borchardt; two brothers, Gregg (Amy) Borchardt, Jeff Borchardt; and one sister, Jennifer (Jeff) Siewert; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is proceeded in death by her mother, Marlys Borchardt, and one niece, Emily Borchardt.

Friends and family are invited to Debbie's celebration of life being held by her children on Thursday August 19th, 2021 from 4-8pm at Plank Road Pub & Grill (1632 Mid Valley Drive, De Pere WI 54115).

A special thank you to her caregivers at Bellin Cancer Team, Dr. Tahsildar, and nurse practitioner, Janie. Another special thank you to Unity Hospice and nurse Karmin for their extraordinary hospice care and support.

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm grateful for our family's many decades of friendship. I will remember her as the beautiful and joyful girl she was when we were all growing in Northbrook and Elm Grove! Please give Dave a hug from me. No parent should have to bury their child!
