Published by Legacy on Nov. 15, 2025.
Debra Vander Meyden Rigby

Debbie Rigby, 73, of West Jordan, Utah passed away peacefully in her home on November, 7th 2025. She was born on January 9th 1952 in Salt Lake City to loving parents Ardell Reid & Howard Vander Meyden. She was the second child to be born into a family that would eventually include six children (three boys and three girls).

Debbie graduated from Kearns High School in 1970. Shortly after, she met and married her first husband, Ronald Claire Anderson of Salt Lake City and they went on to have three children including a daughter Jennifer Anderson and two sons, Travis Wade (Liz) Anderson and Nathan Troy Anderson. Ron and Debbie eventually divorced and Debbie married Steven Max Rigby. They eventually divorced and Debbie remained single for the remainder of her life. She worked a full career at Wallpaper Warehouse, from which she eventually retired.

Debbie loved to take up new hobbies and would pursue each hobby for many years, including crochet, cross-stitch, and making blankets. Throughout her life she loved to read, especially fantasy novels; she shared this love with her kids and several grandchildren. She loved taking care of her many different varieties of plants, including an extensive succulent collection. Most of all, Debbie loved indulging and playing with her grandchildren. She loved watching the birds and squirrels in the backyard with the grandkids and frequently put together puzzles and watched movies with them.

She enjoyed being around family, and would host birthday dinners at her house for her children and grandchildren. She is known for her legendary pot roast, mashed potatoes and homemade gravy. She also hosted annual Christmas parties for the extended family.

Debbie is survived by her three children, brother Craig (Rosemary) Vander Meyden, and six grandchildren – Brayden, Emma, Trey, Skylie, Titan and Carolina.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Karen Dahl & Cindy Dials, and brothers Kim Vander Meyden and Lance Vander Meyden.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 am at the Mountain Shadows 7th Ward Chapel, 7925 South 2700 West, West Jordan, UT 84043

Debbie requested to be cremated, so there will not be a viewing, but family and friends are invited to join for a luncheon at the church after the funeral services.
