Debra Jean West was born July 29, 1959 to Lawrence and Rose Bowers of Ridgeland, South Carolina. "Debbie Cakes" as she was affectionately known as by her children and grandchildren was a perfect blend of sweet and spunky. She loved to sing and often times you would hear her humming a tune and swaying to the beat of one of her favorite songs.
Debra loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Carey Hill Baptist Church where she attended faithfully.
She was educated in the Department of Defense Military School System. In 1978 she graduated from Augsburg Germany American High School. Upon receiving her diploma Debra in August of that same year enlisted in the Unites States Armed Forces (Army). She served 4 years of active duty. In 1986 Debra was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie James West. Through this union three children were born. Demetrius Lee West, Kimberly LaShawn West, and Brittany Nicole West.
If you wanted to see the "BIGGEST" smile on her face, just mention her four grandchildren. Deonte Amori West, Taliyah Briel West, Ethan Kiah West, and Kingston Amir West. She "LOVED" those babies so much and they equally "Adored" her!
After a long illness God in his Infinite Wisdom called Debra home from labor to rest. He said My Child you have fought a good fight and finished your course.
Debra will be missed by many, as she leaves to cherish fond memories her father and mother Lawrence and Rosa, three children Demetrius, Kimberly and Brittany, two brothers Larry (Tony) Hugue of Ridgeland, South Carolina, and Darryl (Yvette) Bowers of Ridgeland, South Carolina, one sister Dawn Hugue of Ridgeland, South Carolina, four grandchildren Deonte, Taliyah, Ethan and Kingston, four aunts Jannie Hicks of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Betty Rhett of Ridgeland, South Carolina, Lillian Jenkins of Ridgeland, South Carolina, Sheila Bowman of Ridgeland, South Carolina, two uncles John (Pauline) Hicks of Willingboro, New Jersey, Henry Willis of Ridgeland, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
