Dee Holley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Keck-Coleman Chapel on Jan. 27, 2024.
Dee Alice Holley, of Elsie, died on January 25, 2024 at McLaren Hospital after a brief illness. She is 76 years old.
Dee was born on April 30, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan, the oldest of four children born to J.D. and Nellie (Kaufman) Washburn. She was a 1965 graduate of Elsie High School and enjoyed a long career as the Director of Merchandising for Michigan Milk Producers Association, until her retirement in 2006.
Her unwavering faith and strength were the bedrock of her life, and she served as a beacon of hope and comfort to many. Dee was a faithful prayer warrior, fervently praying for her family and many others by name each day and was always an advocate for others. She sent care packages for overseas missions, helped many with financial counseling, helped folks with renting and purchasing housing and sang and served at the Lansing Rescue Mission. This steadfast commitment to others is a testament to her role as a good example of "the Hands and Feet of Jesus." She was a faithful member of Duplain Church of Christ and Vestaburg Church of Christ for many years, was instrumental in starting the Sharing Corner and enjoyed singing in the choir. Her passion for music extended beyond the choir as she was also a talented drummer in the Elsie Band, and was proud of many family drummers. Dee was an advocate for others, always ready to lend a hand or a voice when needed. Even amidst her own battles, including a valiant two-year fight against cancer, she maintained an energetic and determined spirit, preferring to get things done rather than be idle. She enjoyed traveling, was a talented seamstress and relished the opportunity to host backyard parties. Her greatest joy was her family - she was a loving sister, wife, mother and doting grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of fifty seven years, Bill Holley; her sons, Mark Holley and David (Sandra) Holley; grandchildren, Callum, Emma, Steven, Michael (Kelly), Rebekah and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Neila, Skylar, Kynlee, Willow, Natalia and one on the way; sister, Rita (John) Craig; brothers, Kam (Kathleen) Washburn and Dan (Pam) Washburn, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at Duplain Church of Christ, 5565 E Colony Rd, St Johns on Monday, January 29, 2024, 11 AM, with visitation beginning at the church at 9:30 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dee's name to Lansing Rescue Mission, Duplain Church of Christ or Vestaburg Church of Christ.
