Dee Walker Powell, III, of Livingston, Texas, formerly of Milam, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Lufkin, Texas. He was born on April 4, 1939, in Houston, Texas, to Dee Walker Powell, Jr., and Dora Evelyn Johnson Powell.
Dee dedicated his career to the electrical trade, working for many years in Houston as a commercial electrician before retiring. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 716 and shared his expertise by teaching Electrical Apprenticeship School for many years. His contributions to the field left a lasting impact on those he mentored.
A devoted member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years, Dee exemplified the values of brotherhood and service. He was also deeply involved in the Democratic Party, reflecting his commitment to civic engagement and community involvement.
Dee is survived by his sister, Carol Dirzanoski of Livingston; several extended family members and numerous friends who will miss his presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Jackie; and his twin sons, Donnie and Ronnie Powell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow services at New Hope Cemetery in Milam.
