Dee Van Horn Obituary
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). Visitation will be an hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Dee worked for 44 years in the nursing field, 33 years spent working in child adolescent health. She retired in 2014.
Family was very important to Dee, and she was always helping them with whatever they needed. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She enjoyed watching basketball and football, especially the Iowa State Cyclones or the Kansas City Chiefs. She also enjoyed action movies and any featuring Tom Cruise.
Dee is survived by her son, Chad (April) Van Horn; grandchildren, Taylor (Mitchell) Clemens, Kailee Van Horn, and Deja Crain; great-grandchild, Sawyer Clemens; and brother, Don (Linda) Darling.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Van Horn; and daughter, Tracey Van Horn McCombs.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Dee. She and my grandma, Judy Johnson, were great friends. I remember going over to my grandmas house on football nights. Dee, Diane, and Beverly were there and we always had SO much fun! I actually didn´t know Dee´s real name until I was a teenager... I always called her "Rose" because I thought she was so beautiful! I´m sure my grandma and Bev are happy to be reunited with their friend condolences to family and friends of this great lady!

I was so saddened to hear about Dee´s passing. We worked together many years on the Adolescent mental Health unit at Lutheran Hospital. She was a very sweet, kind and very caring. Always professional and was a joy to work with! A true friend. I know she will be truly missed. I remember our long talks at the end of the shifts and that great infectious laugh! She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren and you could always count on a brag or two about what was going on in their lives! Rest in Peace Dear Dee! Maria Comito

So sorry to hear about Dee Anne. I knew her while living in Fonda and getting together many times at church events. She always rode with us to piano lessons in Storm Lake.
