Del Frederick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hall Funeral Home - Gulfport on Dec. 9, 2025.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which is the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."

– II Timothy 4:7-8, NKJV

Del A. Thompson Frederick, 68, was born on October 28, 1957, in Gulfport, MS to her loving parents, the late Lillian Powell Thompson and Malcolm Orhea Thompson. She was preceded in death by three siblings – Mattie Louise Thompson (2003), Jerry Thompson (2023), and Clarence Thompson (2024) and two nephews – Christopher Thompson (2021) and Dwayne "Tony" Roberts (2022) and a brother-in-law: Alfred Crowell (2020).

Del grew up and raised in North Gulfport. She attended the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church until her health failed, and she accepted Christ at an early age. As a faithful member, she joined the Inspirational and Senior Choirs, WIAs, and Evangelical Ministry Team. In the community, she served and volunteered at Feed My Sheep, a member of the Heroines of Jericho (HOJ) and a founding member of The Ladies of the Circle of Perfection (LCOP) where she initiated a chapter in Biloxi and served as the president. Del graduated from Harrison Central High School, and went on to Phillips Junior College to receive her associate's degree in business. Upon graduating college, Del started working for Mississippi Admonition Plant (Mason and Chamberlain, Inc) for 10 years and then retired from Alcan Aluminum, Co. in Bay Saint Louis in 2000.

Del united in holy matrimony to Donald J. Frederick in 2000, and to this union she gained 2 stepdaughters: Nicole Murrell (2024) and Nadonna Frederick. Del enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends, and singing unto the Lord.

Del Frederick leaves to cherish her memories: loving husband, Donald Frederick of Gulfport, MS; two children: Brandy and Brian Thompson of Gulfport, MS; four siblings: Regeina Crowell of Gulfport, MS, Jenniffer (Orlando) Grovesnor, Barbara (Thomas) Lewis of Birmingham, AL and Little "Stennis" Thompson; two sisters-in-law Yvonne Thompson of Suisun City, CA and Ethel Thompson of Grovetown, GA. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Del was loved by many in her church and community. She will be truly missed by her compassion of serving and helping others.

I am so sorry I wasn´t able to make the funeral. But my prayers go out continuously for my cousins. Tric and I were talking over Thanksgiving about our summers as kids and the times we spent and y´all´s house in Gulf Port. All of us sleeping in the same bed and the time she spent with Del. Although, we haven´t spent a lot of time together over the years we are family and she will be truly missed.
