Delbert "Del" Louis Colter, 95, of Charleston, SC, formerly of Hermitage, PA, passed away on August 15, 2025, in his home, following an extended illness.

He was born in Warren, PA, on November 11, 1929, to Robert E. Colter and Clara Louise (Goodwill) Colter.

Delbert graduated from Warren High School in Warren PA. He attended the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, OH and ATES in Niles, OH. Del served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 1st class from 1950-1954 during the Korea War serving in Alaska. He was employed at Loblaw's of Sharon, PA, Golden Dawn of Hermitage, PA and Riverside Markets of Hermitage, PA where he retired in 1992, as Department Manager after 47 years of service. After retirement Del worked part time for John Flynn Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.

Delbert was married to Jean E. (Nelson) Colter on July 4, 1992. She survives at their home in Charleston, SC.

Del was a member of the Elks Lodge 103 of Sharon, bowling leagues of Thorton Hall and golf leagues of Sharpsville and Hermitage. Del was a member at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Charleston, SC, where he served as an usher.

Delbert is survived by: Son, James (Jackie Morea) Colter of Jacksonville, FL; Daughter, Janice A. (Jack Peringer III) Colter of Darien, GA; Step-Daughter, Regina Valenly of Hermitage, PA; Son-in-law, Joseph Bonacci of SC; Also surviving are 7 beloved grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In additional to his parents, Del was preceded in death by his first Wife, Lillian Ricci Colter; Step-Daughter, Elizabeth Valenly Bonacci; Three sisters, Margurite Hartford, Anna Traub and Joyce Nelson. Three brothers, Robert, John and William Colter.

Services at this time are TBD. Once a date and time is set, his memorial page will be updated with the details.

His final resting place will be at Saint Brigid's cemetery in Meadville, PA.
