Delbert Wayne Dodson

Delbert Wayne Dodson 76 of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday September 8, 2013. He was born on January 15, 1937 in Indianapolis to Jesse C. and Virginia (Buttz) Dodson. Delbert was a 1955 graduate of Ben Davis High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for IPD as a patrolman for 42 years, retiring in 2005. Delbert was a member of the FOP Lodge 86 and the Eagles Lodge of Plainfield. He was also an active member of Pilgrim Nazarene Church. Delbert is survived by his loving family, wife of 3 years, Patricia Dodson; sons, Troy (Jackie) and Terry (Shannon) Dodson; grandchildren, Jeff, Tara, Zachary, Nicholas and Megan; great-grandchildren, Emilee, Aubrey and Lilianna. He is also survived by his constant companion, dog, Bella; step-children, Lisa and Lori; sister, Beverly Tomasik and 2 half- sisters. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emily Faye Dodson; grandsons, Alexander and Troy Dodson, Jr. and 2 half sisters. Funeral services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11am. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 until 9pm, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Floral Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pilgrim Nazarene Church.
