Delbert Frederick Grefe, 92, Hollenberg, KS, died December 29, 2025, at Cambridge Place in Marysville, KS.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Hanover Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers included his grandchildren - Julie Vandersluis, Tom Penner, Mike Weiner, Tony Penner and Jon Penner.
Delbert was born on October 30, 1933, to Fred and Anna (Kruse) Grefe at their rural Hollenberg home. He attended Trinity Lutheran School.
On February 8, 1975, Delbert was united in marriage to Wanda (Balderson-Weiner) Grefe.
In his early adult years, Delbert worked in road construction before turning to farming north of Hanover. He raised cattle and had a deep love for all types of animals.
Above all, Delbert cherished time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities, with a special fondness for baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Jim Weiner; brothers, Harold Grefe and Freddie Grefe; and sisters, Loretta Bargman and Annetta Grefe.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; stepdaughter, Debbie (Sid) Penner; five grandchildren, Julie (Nate) Vandersluis, Tom (Michelle) Penner, Mike (Janna) Weiner, Tony (Samantha) Penner, and Jon (Jessica) Penner; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; stepdaughter-in-law, Sandy Weiner; and his special caregiver, Jenny.
A memorial fund has been established to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary, c/o Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, Kansas 66508.
