Delia R. Dittmer, 88, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 17, 1937, in Boone, Iowa, to Lawrence A. and Delia F. Shadle Larson, Delia was one of thirteen children. She was a graduate of Boone High School. She and Clarence R. Dittmer were married November 27, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Boone.

After marriage, Delia and Clarence resided in communities in Iowa, Illinois, and Florida. In 1973, they moved to Jackson, where she worked many years as a hostess at Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau. Delia was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, but mostly just being with her family and friends.

Loving survivors include four children, Janet (the late Philip) Hoeland of Wanaque, New Jersey, Dave (Jeanie) Dittmer of Jackson, Jill (Kevin) McGarrah of Tacoma, Washington, and Richard (Angie) Dittmer of Van Buren, Missouri; five grandchildren, Chris (Natalie) Dittmer of Gordonville; Jeri (Natalie) Lehto of Seattle, Washington; Alyssa Attaway of Van Buren; Whitney (Matt) Fluegge of Jackson; Madison Dittmer of Van Buren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jo (the late Loren) Boyd of Fort Dodge Iowa and Jan (Dave) Schell of Melrose, Iowa.

Delia was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Clarence Dittmer; a son, Michael Dittmer; granddaughter, Kellie Dittmer; a great grandson, John Paul Dittmer; and ten siblings.

A Catholic memorial mass will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Old St. Vincent Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau with Father Patrick Nwokoye officiating. Burial will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Old St. Vincent Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
