Delia Bernice Zamora

D elia Bernice Zamora, 91, of Brighton, Colorado passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026.She was born on December 20, 1934, in Hillrose, Colorado to Versabel and Alfonso Derrera, she was the second oldest of nine children.

Delia grew up in Weld County and completed her education through the ninth grade before leaving school to help care for and support her family on their farm, demonstrating her strong sense of responsibility from a young age. She later made her home in Brighton, Colorado where she built a life centered around family. She took pride in being a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home.

Delia's love knew no bounds; she was not only a devoted mother to her own children but also a mother figure to her grandchildren, offering them unwavering care, guidance, and unconditional love. She was much more than a grandmother-she was a steady presence and a source of comfort and strength.

She cherished simple pleasures like fishing and reading, spending time playing games with friends at the senior center and watching the Denver Broncos-often with her favorite snack Cheetos "cheezos" as she would call them in hand. Her faith in God was very important to her, so much so, that the family knew not to call her at 2pm because she would be praying the rosary.

Delia will be remembered for her kindness, resilience and her deep love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched.

Delia is survived by her daughter, Linda Garcia, son Louis Zamora, Jr, sister Liz Hernandez (Maggie) and brother Johnny Derrera (Alice)- along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both her parents, brothers; Alfonso Derrera jr, Leroy Donald Derrera, Sammy Derrera, sisters Dora Edwards, Virginia Cooper, Joyce Dilka, late husband Louis Zamora, son Michael Zamora, daughter Sandra Ahmed, grandson Richard Aerts, Jr and son-in-law Edward Garcia.
