Della Emma Schweiner, age 87, of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025. She was born June 7, 1938, in the town of Lena, Oconto County, Wisconsin to John and Anna (DuCat) Schweiner.
Della was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth and cherished her hometown community. She was one of seven children and shared a very special bond with her sister Virginia (Ginny), with whom she lived for many years under the care of the Brotoloc Home in Ellsworth.
Della was a proud athlete, competing in the Special Olympics where she earned countless medals—so many that they were impossible to number. Her joy, determination, and spirit of competition inspired all who knew her.
A woman of deep faith, Della was also a devoted Catholic, living out her beliefs with sincerity and strength throughout her life.
Della will be deeply missed by her Brotoloc family. For more than 20 years, Meggan and Cindy Coffin of Mississippi Valley Guardians, Inc. faithfully served as her guardians and will greatly miss her warm smile and kind heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother’s Leroy, Gordon, Joseph, Myron and Irvin, and sister, Ginny.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Della will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Francis Catholic Church, 224 Woodworth Dr., Ellsworth, WI 54011. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Della will be laid to rest alongside her sister, Virginia, at St. Francis Cemetery.
